“Dr. Hans Koehler”

Liz and Jennifer track a lead in an old newspaper article about a fire in Rehoboth Beach, Delaware. They discover the site of the vacation home which was the scene of the legendary ‘night of the fire’ from Liz’s past. The sisters discover the house is entirely gone, finding only the foundation concrete and a local sheriff with fleeting memories of that night.

Liz and Jennifer toast to their plan to get Reddington out the way while they search for clues to his true identity. Liz expresses overwhelming guilt to Jennifer about going through with it.

“Marko Jankowics”

While sneaking up on Dr. Hans Koehler’s former nurse Marguerite Renard, Liz and Jennifer are ambushed by a protective detail for her, as she turns out to be the current girlfriend of Hungarian kingpin Marko ”Sarkany” Jankowics. Liz escapes but the armed men throw Jennifer in their vehicle and take her to Sarkany for interrogation. He believes her to be a federal agent until she learns of her sister’s position at the FBI. Fearing nowhere else to turn, Liz enlists Ressler to help her spring Jennifer from Sarkany’s safe house and is forced to tell Reddington of Jennifer’s abduction. Reddington uses his considerable connections in the prison to get Liz the address for Sarkany in Federal Hill, Baltimore. Ressler proposes to Sarkany a trade of stolen drugs from one of his mules, for Jennifer’s life and safe return. Once Liz recovers Jennifer, Sarkany double crosses Ressler but not before Ressler shoots him dead.

After tracking down her grandfather Dominic Wilkinson, Liz finally learns the truth about what happened to the real Raymond Reddington and the identity of the imposter, Ilya Koslov. Liz learns that the man she shot on the night of the fire was in fact the real Reddington who died despite Katarina Rostova and Ilya Koslov rescuing him from the fire. While expressing her concerns about Reddington being publicly destroyed, Katarina expresses concern for Naomi and Jennifer and what they will think of their husband and father.

Season 8[]

”Nachalo”

Katarina appears in a series of flashbacks as the truth about Raymond Reddington is revealed. It’s revealed that the woman Reddington killed is not in fact the real Katarina Rostova but a woman named Tatiana Petrova who was assigned by Dom long ago to play the part of Katarina so that he and Ilya Koslov could fake her death, thus protecting the real Katarina. Tatiana survived, but her husband was killed and Reddington financed her life in hiding after learning what Dom did to her. Tatiana was searching for the real Katarina after learning from Liz’s investigation that Reddington knew where she was so that she could stop hiding from Neville Townsend. After the truth was tortured out of Dom, Reddington killed the fake Katarina in order to keep that information from getting back to Townsend. The real Katarina and Ilya had created the imposter Reddington to protect Liz using the Sikorsky Archive, the central core of Reddington’s empire. It’s revealed that the real Katarina is still alive somewhere, but Townsend attacks the bunker before Liz can learn where or who Reddington really is.

Red gave Elizabeth Keen contact details for Kate while they were in the ambulance.

After Liz had killed one of the men spying on her and Tom Keen, she called Kate rather than the FBI. Liz was surprised when a woman arrived, but Kate quickly took charge and arranged for the cleaning of the site and the disposal of the body.

Kate then organized the raid on a possible location for Red, which is led by Baz while Dembe Zuma guards Kate and Liz.

Ilya Koslov is a former KGB intelligence officer and a childhood friend/lover of Katarina Rostova. Also, Ilya is one of Raymond Reddington´s oldest and dearest friends and they seem to know each other since they were children. After Katarina Rostova staged her suicide in Cape May, Ilya helped her disappear. Ilya devised the plan to impersonate Raymond Reddington in order to gain access to the money the Cabal placed in his name to frame him for treason, so they could fund Katarina´s new life. A year later, Ilya was called by Katarina Rostova´s father Dominic Wilkinson to a meeting at a cafe in Belgrade. Dom told Ilya that his plan with Katarina didn´t work and informed him that Katarina´s enemies joined forces and formed the Townsend Directive to hunt and kill her. Afraid that the Townsend Directive could harm his granddaughter Masha, Dom enlisted Ilya to help him kill Katarina to calm down the Directive and keep Masha safe. Still in Belgrade, Ilya, following Dom´s plan, lured Katarina to an ambush where he and Dom tried to kill Katarina with a car bomb in front of the whole Directive, but they failed and ended up killing her new husband instead. She is desperate for help to escape Anton Velov and his insatiable quest to capture her. He assists her in sneaking back into Moscow to find her father. When her attempt to sway her father results in their near capture/kill by Velov’s men, Ilya slips in unseen and kills the squad. Once Katarina says her goodbyes to Dom, Ilya and Katarina return to hiding at a Moscow hotel. Ilya finds Katarina standing on the edge of the terrace balcony, ready to end it all to stop the hunt and protect her daughter. Ilya then suggests there is a better way, that instead of falling on their swords, they can pull off a “bold plan” to take over the late Raymond Reddington’s assets by stepping into his shoes to show up at the banks. Dom concludes his retelling of this story to Liz with the answer that Ilya Koslov is the man who became Reddington nearly 30 years ago.

​How Does Raymond Reddington Dress?

Red’s style is very much like his personality. Very smart, sharp and confident.

I think the costume designer did excellent work to match character to style. Red typically will wear a three piece suit consisting of suit jacket, pants, suit vest and tie.

On occasion Red will substitute his suit jacket for a windbreaker or long black coat.

In addition, Red will often wear a fedora, gold frame cognac lens aviator sunglasses and made complete with stylish dress shoes.

Season 1[]

“The Freelancer”

Along with Luli Zeng, he was “the least offensive” to Harold Cooper and Diane Fowler for service in Red’s security detail. He is Red’s driver. When Liz visits Floriana Campo’s room after being told Red had hired the Freelancer, it is Dembe who is on guard outside the door. He follows her inside and watches while Campo dies. Back at the Post Office, while Dembe is changing Donald Ressler sees the mark of the Eberhardt Cartel on his shoulder.

“The Stewmaker”

He is with Red when he meets with Liz to tell her that Hector Lorca has contacted him about a new identity. He answers the phone in Haiti when Liz calls to advise Red that Lorca’s trial has been abandoned. He drives Red’s limousine to Stanley R. Kornish’s cabin after stopping to buy meat.

“Gina Zanetakos”

He is with Red when Liz arrives to ask Red about Max Ruddiger. He accompanies Red while he makes a new deal with Max Ruddiger, possibly to intimidate Max, as during the negotiations he stands behind Max.

“Frederick Barnes”

He is with Red at his tailors when Red calls the tip-line regarding the subway attack. He remains while Red briefs Liz and Ressler on Frederick Barnes. He is surprised when Liz walks past the car when Red is on the way to Cuba. He drives Red away from the Forrester home. He accompanies Red and Luli Zeng to the house and rigs the explosive that destroys Raymond Reddington’s old house.

“General Ludd”

He held a gun on Nathaniel Wolff while Red stole the hard drive containing the program for the new 100 dollar banknote design.

“Anslo Garrick”

Garrick’s men capture him separately from Red. After shooting Luli, Garrick points a gun to Dembe’s head to force Red to get out of the box. Red pleads with Harold to give him the code, which Harold refuses. Red then tries to revive Ressler to extract the code from him, but he remains unconscious. Dembe urges him to say goodbye. They recite Al-Ikhlas, a chapter from the Qur’an “(Say: Allah, the One and Only; Allah, the Eternal, Absolute; He begetteth not, nor is He begotten; And there is none comparable unto Him. )” together and the screen faded to black with a gun shot sound.

Red says, “سلام يا أخي / salaam ya akhi” which translates to “goodbye, my brother.”

As an Islamic teaching and a verse in the Quran , Allah says that “The believers are but Brothers, so make settlement between your brothers. And fear Allah that you may receive Mercy.”

“Anslo Garrick: Conclusion”

He attempts to rescue Red after the Post Office is retaken by the FBI. Later, he leads the raid on the communications outpost; however he is unable to prevent the destruction of the primary hard drives.

“The Good Samaritan”

Dembe is back in his familiar role, as Raymond Reddington’s driver and shadow. When Red catches the associate of the man spying on Elizabeth and Tom Keen’s home, Dembe is nearby. When Red calls Liz about The Good Samaritan, Dembe is driving. He is present when Red interrogates the people who were hired to help Anslo Garrick. He is later present when Red interrogates Aram Mojtabai.

“The Alchemist”

Every time Red meets with the activists hunting the mole for him, he is shadowed by Dembe. It is possible that the implied threat, thus presented, encourages obedience to Red’s wishes.

Season 6[]

“Minister D”

Alan Fitch is heard on tape ordering Katarina Rostova to frame Red for treason. It’s also revealed that decades ago, she killed Jordan Loving’s lover and burned the left side of his face after he attempted to blackmail her about the tape.

“Rassvet”

We learn the history of what happened to Katarina after she walked into the sea and her relationship with the impostor, her friend and lover Ilya Koslov. Though Katarina faked her death by walking into the sea, her fate still remains unknown as her father hasn’t seen or heard from her in 28 years and believes she would’ve made contact if she were still alive.
